Start with the response date and the exact charge on your citation. Then find the court’s official case record and instructions. Paying can count as admitting the violation; ask about any school, diversion or hearing option before choosing.
Keep three amounts separate.
The base fine is the penalty for the offense. Court costs and assessments fund separate items in the legal schedule. Future insurance changes depend on your policy and record and are not included in the court balance.
If paying is difficult, ask the court about installment plans, an extension or an ability-to-pay review. The application cannot grant any of those options.
