The court in the state where you received the ticket controls the case and its response date. Your home licensing agency controls how an out-of-state conviction affects your record. Do not assume a ticket disappears because you live elsewhere.

New York DMV, for example, says ordinary convictions in another U.S. state do not add New York points, while Canadian conviction reporting follows reciprocal rules. That is a New York rule, not a nationwide rule.
