The current Connecticut mail-in schedule depends on actual speed and road type. Below 56 mph, the traveling-fast chart starts at $142; 56–70 mph uses a different chart, and limited-access 71–85 mph uses fixed actual-speed bands.

Select the road type at actual speeds above 60; unspecified roads and commercial vehicles are withheld. School/work totals use published zone columns; a combined school-and-work zone adds another fee and is outside the single-zone input. Unsafe-speed charges below the posted limit use a separate $142 amount.
Not a payment quote. The citation, charge, offense date and court determine the final amount.

The statutory fine and the payable amount.
C.G.S. 51-164m directs the Chief Court Administrator to maintain infraction fines and a separate sliding speeding scale with a $50 minimum fine. Traveling-fast 14-218a and speeding 14-219 charges have different current fine/fee charts; the court's October 1, 2025 booklet prints the complete payable totals. Actual speed, limited-access road status and special zone determine the applicable chart, so doubling an ordinary total is not used.

Ordinary speeding/unreasonable-speed convictions carry 1 point. Eligible tickets paid through the Centralized Infractions Bureau receive no points, but remain on the driving history; the statutory cellphone exception is separate.
More than 10 assessed points within 24 months triggers a 30-day suspension under the regulation. Repeat suspensions and conviction-based retraining rules differ. Prior points do not show their dates; this is an 11-point trigger, not suspension at exactly10.
Assessed points remain for 24 months from assessment. A point-free CIB disposition can still appear on driving history.

Missing a ticket, court date or court deadline can lead to suspension. Reopen the case before suspension; reopening afterward also requires the DMV restoration fee. All ticket fines go to the court.

Will my insurance go up?
A conviction can affect premiums, but your insurer uses its own rules. The 2026 ValuePenguin quote study reports a 21% average increase for one speeding ticket in Connecticut. Your insurer, coverage and driving history can produce a different result. A points-free outcome does not promise an unchanged premium.
Does traffic school remove points?
DMV retraining applies at two qualifying violations for age 24 or younger, three for age 25+, and specified work-zone/racing offenses. Complete by the suspension notice deadline; additional violations during the following 36 clean months can cause 30/60/90-day suspensions. Confirm eligibility before enrolling or paying your ticket.
Is this the amount I should pay?
No. The estimate explains a published schedule. Pay only the amount confirmed by the court handling the citation, through its official instructions.
What if I do not respond on time?
Pay in full or submit a not-guilty plea by the Answer Date printed on the complaint ticket. Mandatory court appearances follow the court notice; there is no universal number of days substituted here. Missing a deadline can add consequences. Ask the court about extensions or payment help before it passes.
