The published amount includes the listed court costs. Other courts, late charges, multiple offenses, courses and payment-processing charges can differ. Ordinary 1–5 mph over is a statutory warning, so a numeric court total is withheld rather than adding citation costs to a warning. Miami-Dade’s current page contains conflicting total tables.
Not a payment quote. The citation, charge, offense date and court determine the final amount.

The statutory fine and the payable amount.
F.S. 318.18(3)(b) sets ordinary base penalties before costs: 1–5 over is a warning; 6–9 is $25; 10–14 is $100; 15–19 is $150; 20–29 is $175; 30 or more is $250. Active school-zone fines are doubled, with a $50 base fine for 1–5 over. A signed construction zone doubles the base fine only while personnel or equipment are present. Camera school-zone notices use a separate $100 procedure. County costs are additional.

Your record is a separate cost.
Ordinary speeding carries 3 points through 15 mph over and 4 points above 15 mph. Speeding that causes a crash carries 6 points. School-zone camera citations have different rules.
Florida may suspend a license for up to 30 days at 12 points in 12 months, up to 3 months at 18 points in 18 months, or up to 1 year at 24 points in 36 months. Apply the matching window to your prior points; age and other offenses can change the result.
Point-based suspension uses 12-, 18- and 36-month accumulation windows measured by the offense date. These windows do not mean that the conviction disappears from your driving history.

The questions
behind the ticket.
How much is 15 over in Florida?
The estimate shown is $254.
Will my insurance go up?
A conviction can affect premiums, but your insurer uses its own rules. The 2026 ValuePenguin quote study reports a 13% average increase for one speeding ticket in Florida. Your insurer, coverage and driving history can produce a different result. A points-free outcome does not promise an unchanged premium.
Does traffic school remove points?
Eligible noncommercial drivers without a CDL or commercial learner permit may elect an approved basic driver improvement course. A valid election withholds adjudication and points and reduces the statutory base civil penalty by 18%; other charges and course costs remain. Speeding 30 mph or more over is excluded. Elections are limited to one in 12 months and eight in a lifetime; confirm the clerk's election and completion deadlines. Confirm eligibility before enrolling or paying your ticket.
Is this the amount I should pay?
No. The estimate explains a published schedule. Pay only the amount confirmed by the court handling the citation, through its official instructions.
What if I do not respond on time?
For an ordinary noncriminal citation, a driver who does not elect a hearing generally must pay or enter a clerk-approved payment plan within 30 days after the citation is issued. Mandatory appearances and statutory exceptions follow different procedures. Follow the citation and ask the clerk how to elect school or a hearing. Missing a deadline can add consequences. Ask the court about extensions or payment help before it passes.
