The MVD penalty-assessment schedule implementing section 66-8-116 sets ordinary speeding assessments from $25 through $200 across its published bands. Qualifying construction-zone fines double. The former state conviction fees were removed effective July 1, 2024; this state penalty-assessment model does not price home-rule municipal charges.

Twelve points within 12 consecutive months requires a 12-month suspension. At 7–10 points within one year, a judge recommendation may support suspension up to 3 months.
Points are entered on conviction using the violation date and are expunged at the end of the 12th month after the month of violation. That timetable differs from deleting a conviction.
