The statutory fine and the payable amount.

Ordinary first speeding is generally a minor misdemeanor, with a maximum fine of $150 under section 2929.28, before court costs. School-zone and other listed higher-degree or repeat violations can carry different penalties and mandatory appearances. Bellevue’s local payable fine is a schedule amount, not the statewide statutory maximum.

Compare the neighboring speed bands.

Your record is a separate cost.

At 30 mph or more above the limit, Ohio assigns 4 points. Below that, a limit under 55 mph carries 2 points only when speeding more than 5 mph over; a limit of 55 mph or higher carries 2 points only when speeding more than 10 mph over. Slower violations carry zero points but can still carry a fine.

Twelve points within a two-year period trigger a six-month class D suspension. The period begins on the first conviction within that window. An approved remedial course may provide a separate credit before reaching 12 points; reinstatement requires more than waiting for the suspension to end.

Ohio uses a two-year accumulation period for the 12-point suspension, beginning on the first conviction in the applicable window. A two-year points window does not establish when a conviction is removed from a driving record.

Insurance deserves its own line.

The 2026 ValuePenguin quote study reports a 23% average increase for one speeding ticket in Ohio. Your insurer, coverage and driving history can produce a different result. Read the study and its sample.

The NAIC 2023 combined average premium for Ohio is $1,037.61 per year. This historical measure combines liability, collision and comprehensive averages.

At $1,037.61 per year and 23%, the illustration adds $238.65 per year, about $19.89 per month.

Applying a 2026 quote-study percentage to the historical 2023 NAIC combined premium is illustrative math. These sources use different populations and coverage methods; this is not a measured post-ticket average or a current quote. No future premium increase is included in a court fine.

Official payment instructions

Ask about traffic school

A driver with at least 2 but fewer than 12 points may complete an approved remedial course and apply for a 2-point credit. Only one credit is allowed in any three-year period and at most five in a lifetime. A course ordered by a judge for a suspension does not qualify for this credit. The credit does not erase the recorded convictions.

Contact the Bellevue court by the date on your citation. At 30 mph or more over the limit, its schedule says a court appearance is required.

Ohio's reckless-operation law addresses intentional or seriously unsafe disregard for people or property. It does not establish a universal mph threshold for that charge. A conviction under section 4511.20 carries 4 points; the charge and facts on the citation matter.

behind the ticket.

The estimate shown is $200. The named Bellevue schedule effective August 1, 2026 separates a $50–$110 ordinary fine through 29 mph over from $105 costs. The calculator includes those costs. Thirty or more over and some location-specific violations require court. This is a local first-offense waiver model, not a statewide payment quote.

Will my insurance go up?

A conviction can affect premiums, but your insurer uses its own rules. The 2026 ValuePenguin quote study reports a 23% average increase for one speeding ticket in Ohio. Your insurer, coverage and driving history can produce a different result. A points-free outcome does not promise an unchanged premium.

Does traffic school remove points?

A driver with at least 2 but fewer than 12 points may complete an approved remedial course and apply for a 2-point credit. Only one credit is allowed in any three-year period and at most five in a lifetime. A course ordered by a judge for a suspension does not qualify for this credit. The credit does not erase the recorded convictions. Confirm eligibility before enrolling or paying your ticket.

Is this the amount I should pay?

No. The estimate explains a published schedule. Pay only the amount confirmed by the court handling the citation, through its official instructions.

What if I do not respond on time?

Contact the Bellevue court by the date on your citation. At 30 mph or more over the limit, its schedule says a court appearance is required. Missing a deadline can add consequences. Ask the court about extensions or payment help before it passes.
