This named court schedule is dated January 17, 2023 and is still published. It is not a statewide quote. Current NRS 484B.600(8) makes 30 mph over or more a misdemeanor; that statutory boundary controls even though an older civil table labels a band 21–30. Higher-speed rows are not inferred from older criminal fine-and-bail figures. The 2025 active-school-zone enhancement is not priced until its application is known. Additional charges, delayed payment and optional course or processing charges are excluded.

Not a payment quote. The citation, charge, offense date and court determine the final amount.

Insurance illustration: $336.03 more per year, applying the 2026 study’s 21% state increase to the 2023 NAIC premium. Historical baseline and study sample differ; this is a scenario, not a quote.

The statutory fine and the payable amount.

NRS 484B.600(6) caps the ordinary speeding fine at $20 for each mph over; court assessments are separate. Section 484B.600(8) makes 30 mph over or more a misdemeanor. Local civil schedules can include assessments, and their final amounts are not the same as the statutory base-fine cap. The active-school-zone additional penalty is discretionary and can also double demerit points.

Your record is a separate cost.

Nevada DMV currently assigns 2 points for ordinary 1–20 mph-over speeding, 4 for 21–40 and 5 for 41+. NRS 484B.370, added in the 2025 special session, doubles the ordinary points if an additional active-school-zone penalty is imposed. The school-zone result is withheld because the judicial enhancement is not known. A specially charged rural-area violation under NRS 484B.617 has separate recording rules.

Twelve points in 12 months causes a 6-month suspension. DMV sends a notice; a driver may request a hearing.

Demerit points expire 12 months after conviction. The conviction remains permanently on the driving record.

Will my insurance go up?

A conviction can affect premiums, but your insurer uses its own rules. The 2026 ValuePenguin quote study reports a 21% average increase for one speeding ticket in Nevada. Your insurer, coverage and driving history can produce a different result. A points-free outcome does not promise an unchanged premium.

Does traffic school remove points?

With 3–11 points, voluntarily completing a DMV-approved course can remove 3 points once in 12 months. A course taken for a court plea bargain receives no DMV point-reduction credit. Confirm eligibility before enrolling or paying your ticket.

Is this the amount I should pay?

No. The estimate explains a published schedule. Pay only the amount confirmed by the court handling the citation, through its official instructions.

What if I do not respond on time?

North Las Vegas Justice Court requires civil-infraction payment or an in-person contested-hearing request within 90 calendar days of issuance. Misdemeanor citations follow their assigned appearance date; confirm the issuing court. Missing a deadline can add consequences. Ask the court about extensions or payment help before it passes.
